Doula Services in Redding CA

Offering 24-hour phone support as needed, we welcome home, birth center, and hospital births.

GRACE Doulas provides personalized birth doula services which offer emotional, physical, and informational support for the pregnant mom and dad/coach during the pregnancy and throughout the entire labor and delivery. We stay through the immediate postpartum period to help mom and baby transition together and to establish breastfeeding. We also include one postpartum visit. If desired, we take pictures offering a wonderful memory of that special day.

Yoli also offers postpartum doula services which provide support and practical help during the often-difficult period of transition that comes following the arrival of a newborn. Services may include household chores like cooking and cleaning, breastfeeding support, and newborn care so mom can sleep and shower in peace!

If we are unavailable, or are not a good fit for you for any reason, we are well connected within the birth community and will be happy to help you find a doula as we strongly believe that every mom who desires a doula should have a doula!

What Is A Doula?

A doula "makes birth better" by helping the pregnant mom and her coach navigate through the birth process in a similar way that a tour guide helps people navigate a trip to an unknown land.

A birth doula provides non-medical support to women and their families during pregnancy, labor, birth and immediate postpartum.  She familiarizes them with what to expect during the birth process, showing them how to successfully work with the contractions together as a team, rather than fighting against them.  She can provide a variety of comfort measures including different positions, warmth, massage, and a continual presence. Doulas never replace partners/coaches but are there to make them look like rock stars!

When a postpartum doula is brought into the “fourth trimester”, they provide emotional support, practical household help, and evidence-based informational help regarding breastfeeding and newborn sleep.

Benefits of Having a Doula

When a birth doula is present during childbirth there are significant benefits including:

  • decrease in Cesarean births

  • decrease use of medication pain relief

  • increase in birth experience satisfaction

  • increased Apgar scores for babies

  • decease in labor time

  • increased bonding

In 2017, an updated review of 27 studies from 17 countries involving over 15,000 mothers concluded that “continuous labor support is a rare example of a health care practice found to have many benefits and no known harms!”

  • improved mental health confidence

  • decreased anxiety

  • increased breastfeeding success

  • increased family bonding
